‘The use of cutaway 10 years on. Gimmick or effective teaching technique?’
The first research published on the use of ‘cutaway’ was in ‘Hearing the Voice of Gifted and Talented Pupils Through the Use of Learning Logs in Order to Improve Teaching Provision’, Watson 2006. Ten years later the technique is an established part of teaching in Southampton classrooms. But does it work? Is it just another gimmick used that has no real benefit? This project aims to gather a picture of how the technique is used within lessons, how effective it is and whether it is still relevant today.
