Event Information

The Portswood Teaching School Alliance is fully accredited to provide an independent Appropriate Body service for the NQT year for both primary and secondary colleagues. Our experienced team will take responsibility for receiving and registering assessment forms and will quality assure these against the Teachers' Standards. We will diligently take decisions on the outcome of statutory inductions for NQTs and will notify both the NQT and the NCTL confirming whether or not the Appropriate Body will be recommending to the TRA that the NQT has successfully completed their induction period.

We will not passively file away an assessment form but instead will support the school in its NQT provision.  As part of this service, we will provide an NQT handbook, with training for mentors and ongoing advice and guidance on the NQT induction year. We will make you aware of any changes to regulations and support you with any concerns over the progress of your NQTs.

*NQTs do not have to be registered for the NQT training programme - we can acccredit NQTs who are not traning with PTSA.

Event Information

Providing for the professional progression of a teacher into their second year can be a challenge for schools. The PTSA NQT + 1 Programme builds upon NQT training and seeks to deepen knowledge and understanding of Primary teaching with a  mixture of conferences and visits to settings targeted at the teacher's own phase.  Teachers will work on their own project through the year to provide a focus for reflection.  With the emergence of the Early Career Framework, schools in the future will need to provide on-going training.  This programme meets many of the requirements of the emerging Framework.  Delivered in partnership with the University of Winchester.

“The [NQT + 1] course allowed me to remember what is important about teaching…This programme was about educating and developing our thoughts about teaching, teaching techniques and our ways of progressing into balanced and reflective teachers. I found this course was able to expose me to all that through a hands-on approach”
